Flattening the ends of a penblank where a pen tube has been glued in can be a challenge. Sawing and sanding to a fraction of a millimetre is not the best method to tackle this. If you cut off even a tiny bit too much or too little, there is a chance that the pieces will not fit together perfectly.
A router head is mounted on a rod that fits into the pen tube. This rod can be attached to a chuck that fits into a column drill, drill press or the chuck of a lathe. The penblank must be clamped in place. The part with the trimmer should be able to rotate.
